The Department of Rachana Sharir is dedicated to the study of human anatomy as described in classical
Ayurvedic texts and correlated with modern anatomical sciences. It provides students with comprehensive
knowledge of body structures, organs, tissues, Srotas, Marma, and anatomical relationships essential for
understanding health, disease, and clinical practice. Through theoretical instruction and practical dissection,
the department builds a strong anatomical foundation for future Ayurvedic physicians.
The Department of Kriya Sharir is dedicated to the study of human physiology from the Ayurvedic perspective
while correlating it with modern physiological sciences. It enables students to understand the normal functions
of the human body through the concepts of Dosha, Dhatu, Mala, Agni, Srotas, Indriya, and Manas, forming a
strong foundation for clinical diagnosis and therapeutic decision-making.
The Department of Ayurveda Samhita & Siddhanta forms the academic foundation of Ayurvedic education by imparting knowledge of the fundamental principles, philosophies, and classical texts of Ayurveda. Students
study the teachings of Charaka Samhita, Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, and other authoritative texts while developing a deep understanding ofAyurvedic concepts that guide diagnosis, treatment, ethics, and clinical practice.
The Department of Dravyaguna Vigyan is dedicated to the scientific study of medicinal plants and Ayurvedic pharmacology. It enables students to understand the identification, classification, properties (Rasa, Guna,
Veerya, Vipaka, Prabhava), therapeutic actions, and clinical applications of medicinal herbs described in classical Ayurvedic literature. The department integrates traditional knowledge with modern botanical,pharmacognostic, and phytochemical sciences, preparing students for evidence-based Ayurvedic practice and research.
The Department of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana (RSBK) is dedicated to the study of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics, encompassing the preparation, standardization, quality control, and therapeutic application of classical Ayurvedic formulations. Students gain comprehensive knowledge of herbal, mineral, and herbomineral medicines while learning traditional pharmaceutical processes supported by modern quality assurance practices.
The Department of Agad Tantra evum Vyavahara Ayurveda is dedicated to the study of Ayurvedic Toxicology,Medical Jurisprudence, and Forensic Medicine. The department provides comprehensive knowledge of natural
and artificial poisons, toxicology, medico-legal responsibilities, forensic principles, and emergency management of poisoning.
The Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga focuses on the promotion of health, prevention of disease, and holistic well-being through the principles of Ayurveda. The department emphasizes healthy lifestyle practices,balanced nutrition, Dinacharya (daily regimen), Ritucharya (seasonal regimen), Yoga, and community health to help individuals maintain physical, mental, and social wellness.
The Department of Roganidan Evum Vikriti Vigyan is the cornerstone of Ayurvedic diagnostics, focusing on the study of disease causation (Nidana), pathogenesis (Samprapti), clinical manifestations (Rupa), prognosis,
( upshay anupshay ) and disease classification. The department integrates classical Ayurvedic diagnostic principles with modern pathology, laboratory investigations, and clinical examination to develop accurate diagnostic skills and evidence-based clinical reasoning among students.
The Department of Kayachikitsa is the principal clinical department of Ayurveda, dedicated to the diagnosis,treatment, and comprehensive management of diseases through classical Ayurvedic principles integrated with
evidence-based clinical practice. Kayachikitsa, meaning "Internal Medicine," focuses on restoring health by maintaining the balance of Dosha, Dhatu, Mala, Agni, Ojas, and Srotas.
The Department of Shalya Tantra is one of the eight major clinical branches of Ayurveda, dedicated to the study and practice of Ayurvedic surgery as described in the classical texts, particularly the Sushruta Samhita.The department provides comprehensive education in surgical principles, para-surgical procedures, diagnosis and management of surgical disorders through an integration of traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern
surgical sciences.
The Department of Shalakya Tantra is one of the eight major clinical specialties of Ayurveda, dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and management of diseases occurring above the clavicle (Urdhvajatrugata Vikara). It encompasses the study of Netra (Ophthalmology), Karna (Otorhinolaryngology), Nasa (Rhinology), Mukha &
Danta (Oral Medicine and Dentistry), and Shiro Roga (Diseases of the Head) as described in classical Ayurvedic texts, particularly the Sushruta Samhita, Ashtanga Hridaya, and Charaka Samhita.
The Department of Panchakarma is dedicated to the study and practice of Ayurveda's specialized purification and rejuvenation therapies. Panchakarma plays a vital role in preventive, promotive, curative, and
rehabilitative healthcare by eliminating accumulated toxins, restoring Dosha balance, and improving overall health.
The Department of Prasuti Tantra Evum Stree Roga is one of the eight clinical branches of Ayurveda, dedicated
to women's health, obstetrics, and gynaecology. The department provides comprehensive education and clinical training in the prevention, diagnosis, and management of women's health conditions throughout adolescence, reproductive age, pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum care, and menopause. By integrating
classical Ayurvedic principles with modern clinical practices, students develop the knowledge and skills required to deliver holistic, ethical, and evidence-based healthcare for women.
The Department of Kaumarbhritya is dedicated to the holistic healthcare of infants, children, and adolescents.
As one of the eight clinical branches of Ayurveda, it focuses on child growth, nutrition, immunity,developmental milestones, preventive healthcare, and the diagnosis and management of paediatric disorders.
The Central Library of Dr. Vasant Parikh Ayurvedic Medical College serves as the academic knowledge hub of the institution. Designed to support education, research, and lifelong learning, the library houses an extensive
collection of over 11674 books, including classical Ayurvedic texts, modern medical literature, reference books,
and digital learning resources.
